#OrangeShirtDay
You're invited to support the cause
Kwe'! Ni'n telusi Savvy. Hi, my name is Savvy.
I'm Mi'kmaq, a Mother and a big supporter of the Every Child Matters movement, Orange shirt day. This is a major part of Canada and USA's history that is often left out of the history books. My Migitjo, (Grandmother) Sarah Simon is 93 and a survivor. She's near and dear to me and a huge influence on my life. Her stories and her forgiveness journey to IRS is unreal. I also have quite a few elder friends who are also near and dear to my heart, and who are survivors and one who passed on. Each one of them has such a powerful and very important story to tell. On Sept 30th, we come together, in solidarity wearing orange - to honour these survivors of the Indian Residential Schools. Thank you everyone who wears orange on this day. Many schools will be wearing orange on Friday, Sept. 28, 2018 as well. This year's Orange Shirt Day is on a Sunday. Ask around to see if there's an event happening near you, so you can participate. In Halifax, NS - there's usually a gathering for this, that's apart of the Treaty Day Celebrations. You are welcome to organize events in your community for Sept.30th or a day close to that suits your needs. If you have an Every Child Matters photo with a @SavvyUnLtd design tee, and you'd like it apart of this slideshow, please email it to: SavvyUnLtd@gmail.com :)

Who can partake in Orange Shirt Day?
Everyone! In fact, we strongly encourage you to mark down "Wear orange" on your calendar for Sept. 30th. Even if you don't have one of the Every Child Matters tees, wear an orange hat, or socks, sweater - anything orange. Please use the hashtags: #EveryChildMatters and #OrangeShirtDay when posting on social media. If you want to make room in your heart, please send out a special prayer or meditation on Sept. 30th (or any/everyday if you wish) for all of the Indian Residential School Survivors who are still healing today and for those who've passed on. Wela'liek = We thank you very much #SpeakMikmaq Learn more about how Orange Shirt Day came to be and the brave survivor who shares her story:
